Day 21- Do it anyways!

I do not listen to music often any more, not that i don’t enjoy it, i think i just forget to take the time to enjoy it, but every once in a while i realize just how therapeutic it can be. Today while driving home from camrose we were listening to shine FM (my favorite radio station), and a song came on that i really like.

Its called Anyways by Martina McBride, I really enjoy this song because its so encouraging and i feel it has so many great messages in it. I also now have fond memories of this song because lisa so kindly invited me to attend a Martina McBride concert with her and i got to see Martina sing it live. Sometimes listening to this song really pulls at my heart string, i could even say it stirs my soul.

It reminds me of all the things i have been through in my life. Thing that don’t always make sense at the time, and that don’t turn out exactly how I wanted them to, or prayed for them to, but when I look back you know that it was so important for me to go through those things. That I would not be the person i am today had i not gone through everything i have up to this point.

For some reason one of my main goals is life was to find true love and spend the rest of my life with that person, given my background of separated parents this might sound a little odd, but for some reason i was determined to do this. And i decided at a very young age that no matter what i had to got through to get it, i would do it anyways.

Just like anything in life, the out come could be terrible, or it could be wonderful. But in the end you’ll never know what the out come will be unless you step up and do it anyways. I know personally with everything in my life up to this point, that a regret of not doing something is way worse then the regret of what happened when i did.

I think that sometimes we don’t take a chance because we are two scared of all the negative “what if’s”, or we pray once and it doesn’t quite turn out the way we wanted it to and we think whats the point of even praying. I have personally done this many times.

But what i realized was i don’t need to be perfect, I just need to always remember to do it anyways.

“You can spend your whole life buildin’
Somethin’ from nothin’
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

[chorus:]
God is great, but sometimes life ain’t good
When I pray it doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

This world’s gone crazy and it’s hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway
You can love someone with all your heart
For all the right reasons
And in a moment they can choose to walk away
love ’em anyway

[chorus]

You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they’ll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yeah, sing it anyway
I sing, I dream, I love
Anyway
yeah”

Today i am thankful for unexpected blessings. I am grateful for all the times we did not know where rent, or money was coming from but it always seemed to come in some form just when we needed it. I am blessed with being able to spend my days with jimmie, and not having to worry about when we are going to see each other next.

I am grateful for people who have paved the way for us to succeed, and who have worked so much harder than we will ever have for our freedom.

I am thankful for jimmie and what an amazing gift from god he was for my life, and i am so grateful that no matter how many times my heart was broken, that i did it anyways, and for such an amazing man i look back and know i would do it all over again.

Life’s not easy, change is hard, and sometimes you just don’t know where life will lead you… but i encourage you to do it anyways.
